Soreness after a massage.

I have many clients who come to me and report that after a "deep tissue" massage, they hurt so badly that they were afraid to get another massage.  One would think that the therapist did something wrong or that the client just wasn't aware of what they were asking for.  This is sometimes the case.  But what may have happened is that the therapist may not have kept in check with the client OR the client simply did not let the therapist know that they were working too deeply.  ANOTHER MAIN CAUSE OF AFTER MASSAGE SORENESS...IS NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER AND NOT SOAKING IN EPSON SALTS!

A deep tissue massage stirs up toxins and lactic acid and IF enough water is not consumed, the muscle tissue feels as though you did too much exercise and you can be sore for DAYS. If you've ever sprained a muscle,  epson salt soaks are fantastic to sooth the muscle tissue.  The magnesium in the salts is VERY good for muscles and helps restore the tissue to a healthy state.

SO WHEN YOU GET A MASSAGE - PLAN ON DRINKING LOTS OF WATER AND SOAKING IN THE TUB!

Adverse effects of Pain Medication

I used to reach for the advil or tylenol at every headache, ache or pain.  As a massage therapist, I've learned alternative ways to deal with pain.  For one, drinking plenty of water and getting exercise may help keep you from a painful body, but if you ever do reach a point where you are tempted to take an OTC medication, STOP!  There are SO many other ways to get rid of them without turning to drugs that, according to the National Institute of Health, will severely damage kidney function if taken daily for years!

I use a homeopathic spray from Lifewave or one of their ICEWAVE patches or use Reiki among other methods.  Rosewood oil has demonstrated the ability to help the body rid itself of any type of headache.  WHY USE THINGS THAT PROMOTE DAMAGE TO THE BODY?  Try one of these other things!  Your body will thank you...especially your KIDNEYS!.

Access the pain medication warnings on the National Institute of Health website.  Just type in "pain medications".

What exactly is "ENERGY WORK"?
In my experience to date, energy work usually means to work with the body's energetic fields to bring the body's system back into balance.  This includes meridians, chakra points, acupressure points and the like.  The therapist can determine where blockages are based upon various signs to include pain, feeling of coldness or excessive heat in an area or tightness of a muscle.  Using the hands, stones, thoughts, lasars, and magnets....the therapist can facilitate the rebalancing of these energy fields quickly and easily AND the body will demonstrate immediately if an effect has been felt!

It's an exciting, yet VERY relaxing form of body work! Try it!  I'm sure you will love the experience.

No "voodoo" going on here....just working with the body's natural energy fields.  I'll explain more sometime.
